Discovering the Places of Cinema: Rome and Ciociaria

  • Day 1: The tour will begin in Rome with a walking tour along Via Vittorio Veneto, famous for its elegance and immortalized in Federico Fellini’s film La Dolce Vita (1960). We will stroll through the refined venues that have marked this iconic street. Then, we will continue to the dramatic Spanish Steps, which served as the backdrop for the famous scene in Roman Holiday (1953) with Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn. Afterward, we will admire the spectacular Trevi Fountain, famous for the scene of Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni’s bath and Audrey Hepburn’s haircut. We will continue exploring the masterpieces of Roman Baroque, including Bernini’s Barcaccia Fountain and the Collegio di Propaganda Fide, which featured in the opening scenes of Roberto Rossellini’s Rome, Open City (1945). Finally, we will head to the Colonna Gallery, now called the Galleria Alberto Sordi in honor of the great actor, where the final scene of his film Polvere di Stelle (1973) with Monica Vitti was filmed.
  • Day 2: Civitavecchia of Arpino + lunch at the Gardens of the Acropolis + Arpino town center. Isola del Liri waterfall and Sora – House of De Sica.
